Yoed N. Kenett, PhD

My research broadly aims to comprehend the role of knowledge in higher-level cognition, in typical and atypical populations. I completed a Bachelor of Art in Cognitive Science and Psychology (2007) and a Master of Art in Cognitive Science (2009) at the Hebrew University at Jerusalem. I then earned my Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Leslie and Susan Gonda Brain Research Center at Bar-Ilan University (2015), working with Miriam Faust and David Anaki. Following my Ph.D., I completed my postdoctoral training in Cognitive Neuroscience at Brown University (2015-2016), working with Joseph Austerweil and Bertram Malle, and at the University of Pennsylvania (2016-2020), working with Sharon Thompson-Schill and Anjan Chatterjee. I joined the Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences as a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in August 2020.

I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and management from Ben Gurion University, and a master’s degree in cognitive psychology from Tel Aviv University. Throughout both degrees I have worked as a research assistant in a number of labs and in a variety of fields. In my thesis I investigated the relationship between working memory and mind wondering.

I am a PhD student at the Technion’s Data and Decision Sciences faculty. Under the supervision of Ph.D. Yoed Kenett, I explore the semantic network reconfiguration processes that underlie creative ideation by using the prospective computational network analysis. We are curious about the main questions as to what has happened when creative ideation reacts to the previous memory structure and how does this relate to the subsequent memory retrieval performance.

I am MSc student at the Data Science and Engineering program at the Technion’s Data and Decision Sciences faculty. During my studies, I acquired skills in the fields of processing, analysis, and presentation of data in multiple domains. I am enthusiastic about linguistics, arts and music, and interested in semantics, cognition, creativity, and their analysis using computational tools.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Data and Decision Sciences from the Technion, and am now a master’s student in the data science program. Under Ph.D. Yoed Kenett’s supervision, I ask questions about questions – we aim to explore how people ask questions, what types of questions help us the most and what are the cognitive mechanisms that realize this ability. In my free time, I mostly enjoy baking and hiking.

I hold a B.F.A. in Design from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, signifying the commencement of a decade-long journey delving into human decision-making as a UX designer. Currently, my academic journey persists as an MSc student in cognitive psychology at Technion’s Data and Decision Sciences faculty. Under the guidance of Ph.D. Yoed Kenett, I am devoted to unraveling the intricate dynamics of humor and associative thinking.
